“Years ago most of the artists and A&R’s I met laughed at me doing music for film & TV... funny how things change.”
American Music Award winner CHRIS CLASSIC is a multi-faceted artist and songwriter. A Long Island native, CLASSIC left college early to help his uncle pen lyrics for his own album Crown Royal where he got the chance to meet and work with artists like Nas, Kid Rock, Third Eye Blind, Jermaine Dupri, Jagged Edge, and Sugar Ray. During this time, CLASSIC was also under the guidance of Jam Master Jay who believed in CHRIS’s talent and was working on Classic’s record deal for before his murder in 2002.
Since then CHRIS– after partnering with Producer Ali Dee and DeeTown Entertainment – has been able to write and record songs for the themes of TV shows, and movie soundtracks, totaling over 250 placements including Transformers, both Alvin & The Chipmunks movies, Fantastic Four, Night at The Museum, Coach Carter, Sex and The City, Speed Racer, Friday the 13th, Lottery Ticket and several upcoming releases. CLASSIC and the rest of DeeTown most recently scored Martin Lawrence’s Big Momma’s House: Like Father Like Son. They also worked on Gnomeo & Juliet, HOP, Dairy of A Wimpy Kid, in 2011 so far. They have begun work on Chipmunks 3, Ice Age 4, Planes along with several other films in 2011. They have partnered with LeBron James to provide the music for his cartoon series The LeBrons, along with a full Soundtrack currently available on iTunes.
Classic happily provides mentorship and musical guidance to one of his younger cousins who is an artist on Atlantic Records along with several other songwriters, producers and artists. His goal is to leave a legacy of Hip Hop being a way of life and respected art form and business as opposed to its past stereotypes.
